How to restart IIS
Ok, sure, this may be a well known fact, but for a while, I didn’t really know how to restart IIS. If you run Microsoft’s Internet Information Service, and you need to restart it, follow these steps.
- Open the IIS Manager (found under Administrative Tools)
- Right click on the name of your computer (mine says “SERVER (local computer)”
- Go to “All Tasks” -> “Restart IIS”
From there you can start, stop, or restart the webserver. Once you decide to restart it, a box will pop up giving you the option to end the process early. Its been my experience that you don’t want to end the procedure early, especially if you serve lots of sites. If you do, it will sometimes stop all the sites and you will have to go through this procedure again to start them up.

Appreciate the tip. Amazing how hard it is sometimes to find out how to do simple things.
